CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State overcame a sluggish start to post its second consecutive blowout victory with a 96-65 win over Texas College Saturday at the Claremore Expo.

Sophomore Katie Rice turned in the best performance of her career with 14 points and a school record 22 rebounds. The Hillcats completed a 2-0 sweep during the two-day Hoopin' for the Cure tournament sponsored by Claremore Regional Hospital.

RSU got off to a slow start as the Lady Steers tied the game at 21-21 on a 3-pointer by Robertson Olanya with 6:30 to play in the first half. However, the Cats closed the half on a 25-3 run and held a comfortable 46-24 advantage at the break. Freshman Effanesia Baker scored 10 first half points to key the run.

Sticking with a season-long trend, the Hillcat dominated the glass on both ends of the floor. After setting a team record with 59 rebounds Friday night, the Hillcats shattered that mark with 70 boards on Saturday. Six RSU players grabbed at least six rebounds led by Rice with 22 and Tasha Parker with 11.

Autumn Thompson enjoyed her best offensive game to-date with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Junior Sophia Piggie added 17 points while Baker, Hunter Peterson and Andrea Miles also posted double figures in scoring.

Coach Amy Williams' club outrebounded Texas College 70-42 and forced 22 turnovers. For the weekend the Hillcats outscored their opponents 201-129. Oklahoma City hammered Ecclesia College 106-37 in Saturday's early match-up. The Stars also finished the weekend 2-0.

Rogers State (4-1) won its third straight game and posted a 3-0 record for the week. The Hillcats will host Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday in a regional rivalry game at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m. Both games will be carried live on RSU Public Television (Cox Cable Channel 19) and RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
