Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

RSU Women Rip Royals, 75-50

CLAREMORE, Okla. - After taking a half to shake the rust off from the holiday break Rogers State opened the second frame clicking on all cylinders and cruised to a 75-50 victory over Ecclesia College (Springdale, Ark.) Tuesday night at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats shot 30 percent from the field in the first half and led the Royals by just four points at the break. However, RSU opened the second period on a 19-2 run en route to its fourth consecutive win. The four-game streak is the longest in the brief history of Hillcat women's basketball.

Sophomore Andrea Miles scored a career-high 18 points in the winning effort. The Dallas native went 8-for-15 from the floor and also added five rebounds to her totals. Senior forward Azzie Knox posted a double-double with a career-high 16 rebounds to go along with 15 points.

Ecclesia held its own in the first half despite getting outrebounded 38-14. The Royals made four first half 3-pointers to keep the deficit within reach. Ecclesia hit only one trey and was outscored by 21 points after halftime. Samantha Kimmons and Ashton Abshier led the Royals with 10 points apiece.

The Hillcats finished the night with a decisive 64-28 rebounding advantage. Senior Hannah Owen joined Knox in double figures with 11 boards. Sophomore Katie Rice chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Rogers State (8-4, 2-2) completed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 6-2 record. The Hillcats return to Sooner Athletic Conference action Saturday against Northwestern Oklahoma State at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
