Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Chaps Rout Rogers State, 71-33

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State picked a bad night to have a bad night shooting the basketball.

Facing 12th ranked Lubbock Christian, the Hillcats shot a season-low 20 percent from the floor and were bounced by the Lady Chaps, 71-33 at the Claremore Expo Thursday.

RSU managed just four field goals and 12 total points in the first half. Meagan Selvidge's 3-pointer with 2:17 remaining in the period stopped a 7:46 scoring drought for the Hillcats, but the damage had already been done. Shamika Singleton followed with a bucket for LCU and gave the Lady Chaps a 30-12 advantage at the break.

Playing without their second leading scorer, Katie Rice, the Hillcats were unable to find any rhythm on offense. LCU put the game away early in the second half by shooting 15-for-25 from the field. Brittany Blackmon and Jordan Hampton led the way with 12 points apiece.

Freshman Meagan Selvidge came off the bench to score 10 points for RSU. Sophomore Hunter Peterson added 10 points and six rebounds. However, the Hillcats finished the night with only 10 made field goals and were outrebounded by the Chaps 48-27.

Lubbock Christian (8-0, 2-0) kept its perfect record intact and remained unbeaten against the Hillcats in three meetings.

Rogers State (4-4, 0-2) lost its third straight game and will look to rebound Saturday with its first Sooner Athletic Conference win. The Hillcats will host Wayland Baptist (Plainview, Texas) at the Claremore Expo in the final home game before the semester break. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
