Lady Drovers Drop Soccer Hillcats, 5-1

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The University of Science and Arts handed Rogers State its second consecutive loss with a decisive, 5-1 victory Tuesday night at Soldier Field in Claremore.

The Hillcats' hot start has cooled considerably in recent weeks. RSU opened the season by winning nine of its first 10 games. However, the Cats have dropped three of their last four matches, all to Sooner Athletic Conference opponents.

The Lady Drovers netted three first half goals en route to runaway victory. Tiffany Roberts tallied the only goal of the night for RSU with a strike in the 17th minute. Brittany Jay and Calli Cooper tacked on second half goals for USAO to reach the final margin.

The Drovers outshot the Hillcats, 15-7 and posted 13 shots on goal. USAO goalie Destiny Wilson was credited with five saves in the victory while RSU keepers Bailey Lynn and Jessica McCutcheon combined to allow five goals.

Rogers State (10-4, 3-3) fell to sixth place in the conference standings while USAO moved to within a half-game of first. The Hillcats return to the pitch Friday evening to face Oklahoma Christian at Soldier Field in Claremore. The match is set for 5 p.m.
