Lady Eagles Spoil Hillcat Senior Night, 66-58

CLAREMORE, Okla. - A red hot second half effort propelled Oklahoma Christian to a 66-58 upset victory over No. 22 Rogers State on Senior Night at the Claremore Expo Saturday.

The Lady Eagles shot 52 percent in the second period and outscored the Hillcats by 14 to pick up a critical win on the final night of the regular season. RSU would have finished in third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a win, but instead fell back into a three-way tie for fourth.

It was a back and forth affair for most of the evening. Andrea Miles scored two quick buckets in the last 30 seconds of the first half to give RSU a 33-27 advantage at the break. OC opened the second stanza on a 9-0 run to grab the lead. The teams traded the lead seven times in the second half alone.

Miles buried a wing three to put the Cats on top, 53-52, at the four-minute mark. However, Kailan DeCamp answered with a driving layup and the Eagles outscored RSU 8-0 over the next three minutes. The margin stretched to seven when Kaitlyn Morris hit a free throw with 42 second remaining. RSU converted a couple of desperation baskets, but DeCamp knocked down four consecutive free throws in the closing seconds to ice the win.

DeCamp led all scorers with 20 points while Lindsay McCown added 16 for OC. Miles and Jenny Hardin tallied 13 points apiece in the losing effort for the Hillcats. RSU shot just 33 percent from the floor in the second half and really lost ground at the free throw line. While the Eagles converted an astounding 90-percent of their free throws, the Cats made a season-low 41 percent of their attempts at the charity stripe.

Rogers State (20-10, 12-10) will await the Sunday announcement of its official seeding and opponent in next week's SAC Tournament. The Hillcats will likely be seeded sixth after losing out on tiebreakers to Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Christian. First round tournament games will be played Thursday at the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla.
