CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State men's soccer team tallied an important Sooner Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday night as the Hillcats defeated Oklahoma Baptist 2-1 at Soldier Field.

With the win, the Hillcats move into second place in the SAC standings with one regular season game to play.

Junior Whellyn Carroll earned the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute of play. It was the Johannesburg, South Africa native's second goal of the season.

Sophomore Mohammed Shaban gave the Cats an early lead in the first half as he found the back of the net in the 11th minute of the game. He slotted the ball near post off a goalkeeper deflection, giving the Tulsa, Okla. native his fifth goal of the season.

The Bison knotted the score in the 35th minute of the game as Pedro Pereira blasted a free kick into the goal, upper 90 backside, from 25 yards out. It was the Goiania, Brazil native's second goal of the season.
