CHICKASHA, Okla. – On the same night USAO introduced its new mascot Dusty, No. 10 Rogers State dropped the regular season finale to USAO Saturday evening at the USAO Fieldhouse, 81-63.
The Hillcats had their worst shooting performance of the year hitting just 35 percent from the field including going 20 percent from behind the arc.
USAO tallied an 11 point advantage with 9:07 to go in the first half off a Phillip Harris 3-pointer. The Drovers entered the intermission with a 37-22 lead.
Harris drilled a 3-pointer in the first five minutes of the second stanza to push the Drover lead to 56-29. A pair of free throws by Maurice Rutherford cut the deficit to 15 points with 9:55 left marking the closest the Cats would get in the for the remainder of the game as the Drovers won 81-63.
USAO (15-13, 11-11) was led in scoring and on the boards by Kyle Hunt with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Harris totaled 18 points going 2-of-4 from on treys. Norris Rumph rounded out the Drover double-digit scorers with 17.
Kenny Edwards tallied his second double-double of his Hillcat career with 12 boards and 11 points. Edwards first double-double came in the first match-up with USAO this season.
Leading the Cats in scoring with 15 points was Donald Williams as the junior guard went 3-of-9 from downtown. Senior Jeremy Marseille converted 12 minutes of playing time into 12 points in the final regular season contest for the Hillcats.
