Second Half Spurs No. 13 Mustangs Past Hillcats

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 13 Midwestern State (Texas) Wednesday afternoon at Soldier Field.
 
 
The Hillcats played solid defense through the first half taking a scoreless draw into the locker room at intermission. Edward Hubbard gave the Hillcats their best shot to break the deadlock of the first frame ricocheting the ball off the post in the 36th minute.
 
 
The Mustangs took the lead in the 59th minute with a goal by Andrew Power headed upper ninety, near post off a Ben Clarvis corner kick. Clarvis added his second assist after collecting his own blocked shot and crossing it to the back post from the end-line where Jevan Toledo doubled the MSU lead with a half-volley buried in the 70th minute.
 
 
RSU's Devin Zvosec fired a near miss just wide in the 76th minute redirecting a Whellyn Carroll effort off Lars Lindtner corner kick.
 
 
Cody Gammill registered four saves while allowing two goals taking the loss for the Hillcats while Nick Petolick earned the shutout with one save.
 
 
Rogers State (5-7) returns to action Saturday as the Hillcats head to Lubbock Christian at 7:30 p.m.
