Ten Goal Scorers Pace Record Night for Hillcat Men

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State men's soccer team posted a record night scoring 15 goals in a shutout of Hillsdale Free Will Baptist in non-conference action Wednesday night at Soldier Field.

Ten different players scored a goal as the Hillcats broke their school record for single-game scoring bettering the previous best of nine coming in a shutout Sept. 25, 2009 against Southwestern College.

Junior Lars Lindtner added his name to the record books turning in four assists moving past T.J. Martin's mark from the 2010 season.

Danko Kenjic and Austin Sexton each tallied a goal in the opening 106 seconds as the rout started with five first-half goals. Lindtner, Timothy Nuckols, and Carson Lynn all recorded their first goals of the season in the opening stanza.

Sexton added his second of the night in the 49th minute kick starting a 10-goal second half. Caleb Pitts and Dylan Beaird followed with goals 25 seconds apart before Lindtner netted his second tally less than a minute later.

Chris Perez and Whellyn Carroll extended the offensive outburst with goals of their own and Sexton completed the hat trick in the 67th minute. Jordan Permaul was the final player to add his name to the score sheet while Lynn and Perez closed the night scoring for the Hillcats.

Cody Gammill picked up the victory in goal for RSU not facing a shot while Mitchell Penton made two saves in 37 minutes of goalkeeping. Joey Arnold saw 23 minutes of action for the Hillcats but did not face a shot.

RSU (5-5 overall) returns to Heartland Conference play Monday Oct. 13 at nationally-ranked St. Edward's in Austin, Texas. The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
