WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Rogers State men's soccer team could not overcome a trio of first-half goals on the road at No. 3 Midwestern State in a 3-0 loss Monday night at MSU Soccer Field, snapping a six-game unbeaten streak.
The Hillcats got back-to-back corner kicks in the 12th minute taken by
Danko Kenjic, but failed to convert, and the Mustangs took advantage striking for a quick pair, with the eventual game winner at 13:21.
MSU's Albert Rodriguez scored both goals in a span of 2:45 breaking the game open and keeping the Mustangs, formerly No. 1 in the country, unbeaten on the season. Rodriguez tallied his team-leading 13th and 14th goals of the year moving into the nation's top 10 goal-scoring list.
Cody Schultz added the third goal for the home side in the 42nd minute for a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
RSU had chances to stay in the match generating 12 shots, led by three each from seniors
Dylan Beaird and
Niall Masterson, and put five on frame.
Cody Gammill suffered his first loss in more than three weeks making one save, while allowing three goals. Brice Gardner picked up the win for the Mustangs turning away five shots.
