RSU Softball Falls in Finale to Lady Chaps, 7-2

CLAREMORE, Okla.- The Rogers State softball team suffered a 7-2 loss to Heartland Conference standings leader Lubbock Christian rounding out a three-game series at the Diamond Sports Complex Saturday.

The Lady Chaps pounded out 12 hits en route to the 7-2 victory, holding the Hillcats to just a trio of hits in the contest.

The Chaps opened the first frame with three singles to load the bases. Jessica Loiacano grounded into a double play driving in the first run of the game. With two outs, Ashton Davis kept the inning alive with a RBI single to left field, giving the Lady Chaps a 2-0 lead.

LCU doubled its lead in the third with a one-out, two-run home run ripped over the left field fence by Loiacano. Molly Davis followed with a solo shot over the right field fence, pushing the advantage to 5-0.

RSU battled back and dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. With runners on second and third, Carley Conley belted a single to center driving in one run but the centerfielder misplayed the ball allowing a second run to reach home, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

A two-out solo home run by Liz Torres pushed the Lady Chap lead to 6-2 in the top of the fifth.  In the sixth, the Chaps extended the lead to 7-2 with a RBI groundout by Loiacano.

The Hillcats left one runner stranded on the bottom of the sixth and could get the offense jump started in the seventh.

Bailee Kaderka (4-10) was tagged with the loss for RSU, lasting 2.1 innings, allowing five runs, four runs, on seven hits.

Courtney McGee (13-3) earned the win in the circle for LCU, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
