CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team used strong pitching to pull out a 4-2 win on Friday over Colorado Christian at the Diamond Sports Complex.
Starter
Blake Roley along with relievers
Justin Magstadt held the Cougars to only three hits in the nine-inning game. Roley went the first 6.1 innings and allowed the two runs, both coming in the sixth inning. Magstadt and Huber combined for the final 2.2 innings and didn't allow a hit.
Huber got the save, going the final inning and getting his second save of the season. Roley moved to 3-0 on the season in three starts.
The Hillcats scored their first run in the first inning as an
Ismael Orozco single to right field brought home
Caleb Kohlmeyer for a 1-0 score after Kohlmeyer reached base on a double down the line.
A Cougar miscue in the fifth inning allowed the other three RSU runs to score. Garett Hall singled to load up the bases, but the CCU catcher tried to make a play and threw the ball out to centerfield. The error brought in all three baserunners for a 4-0 advantage.
After being retired in order through the first three innings, CCU got its first hit in the fourth on a single to left field. The Cougars plated their two runs in the sixth inning. A triple to right center scored the first run, and an RBI groundout made it 4-2.
RSU's pitching staff shutdown CCU for the rest of the game holding the Cougars to without a hit in the final four innings.
