WACO, Texas – Rogers State's Ismael Orozco was named Heartland Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week following his impressive performance during a 3-1 week for the Hillcats.
 
The junior from San Francisco, California paced the RSU offense reaching base 13 times in four games for a .765 on-base percentage, while raising his batting average to seventh in the league at .455. He went 6-for-10 at the plate during the week, drew five walks, and was hit by a pitch twice. He also hit his first home run for the Hillcats totaling nine bases and a .900 slugging percentage for the week capped by a three-game series sweep of Colorado Christian.
 
Orozco has reached base safely in all 13 games this season and recorded a hit in 11 of those 13 starts for RSU, including six straight. He also has a team-leading seven, multi-hit performances as the Cats lead the Heartland Conference with a team batting average of .368 this season.
 
He joins Andrew Vanisi, who earned the honor three times last season, as the only hitter of the week winners for the baseball team in its third year in the conference.
