CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State softball team fell, 12-4, to Lubbock Christian on Sunday (April 23) in the first game of a three-game series at the Diamond Sports Complex.
In a game that featured five home runs, including three from RSU, the visiting Lady Chaps put together two big innings to pull away for the win.
LCU jumped on the Hillcats early with four runs in the first inning. Sydney Beuthien hit her first of two home runs, a two-run shot to left, to give the Lady Chaps an early 2-0 edge. With the bases loaded later in the first, a single through the infield plated one more run, and the final run of the inning scored on a sac fly for a 4-0 margin.

Morgen Blanchard matched the Lady Chaps with her own homer in the first inning, a solo shot to deep centerfield to make it 4-1 after only one inning.
Beuthien posted her second two-run home run of the day in the fourth inning to increase the lead to 7-1 for the Lady Chaps.
The sixth inning was huge for both teams as the Hillcats and Lady Chaps combined for eight runs. LCU tallied five runs, four of those unearned. Back-to-back sac flies started the scoring for the Lady Chaps, and a double to center added two more runs for an 11-1 score. The final LCU run came home on a single up the middle to make it 12-1.
RSU used two consecutive homers in the sixth for its final three runs.
Danelle Day knocked out a two-run home run to center field, and
Mikayla Waggnor made it back-to-back bombs with a solo shot to left for a 12-4 score.
Day went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Waggnor finished 2-for-3 with one RBI.
