INDIANAPOLIS – The Rogers State softball team was selected as the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional and will travel to Grand Junction, Colorado. The opening round starts on Thursday (May 10).
The No. 8-seeded Hillcats make their first-ever appearance in the NCAA South Central Regional and will begin play against host and No. 1 seed Colorado Mesa (47-3) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the CMU Softball Stadium. Texas A&M-Commerce (39-9) and Tarleton State (47-9) are the No. 4 and 5 seeds to complete the field in Grand Junction in the double elimination tournament and will play at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the four teams in Grand Junction will advance to the Super Regional Tournament held May 17-18 at the highest remaining seed.
The Hillcats earned the bid to the South Central Regional Tournament by winning the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship. RSU used wins over Texas A&M International, St. Mary's and Oklahoma Christian (twice) to capture the league title, its first since joining the Heartland Conference. The Hillcats are 39-18 this season, the most wins since joining NCAA Division II.
