Softball Tabbed Fourth, Day and McFetridge Recognized In Heartland Preseason Poll

WACO, Texas – Rogers State Softball has been selected fourth in the 2019 Heartland Conference Softball Preseason Poll following a vote of the league's coaches and sports information directors.
 
The Hillcats, who are the reigning Heartland Conference Tournament Champions, received 59 points and a first-place vote. Rogers State also had two players named to the 2019 Preseason All-Heartland Softball Team with junior Danelle Day being named as a catcher and sophomore Allie McFetridge as a designated player.
 
McFetridge led the Hillcats last season, hitting .330 with 10 homeruns, 48 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Day was second on the team with a .326 average, while having 20 homeruns, 63 RBIs and 42 runs scored. Day also had 27 walks for an on-base percentage of .424.
 
St. Mary's is picked to win the title, receiving 90 points and nine of the 14 possible first-place votes up for grabs.
 
Oklahoma Christian begins this season second in the conference's preseason poll. The Lady Eagles picked up 76 points and two first-place votes. Lubbock Christian, who earned 74 points and one first-place vote, was picked third overall.
 
Texas A&M International was tabbed fifth with 51 points and one first-place vote. Newman was picked sixth in the poll with 24 points followed by St. Edward's who finished the preseason poll with 18 points.

The Hillcats will start their season at the Ronnie Hawkins Tournament hosted in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on February 2. Rogers State will begin Heartland Conference play against St. Edward's at home on February 23.
