INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Hillcat Softball has earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season after securing the No. 7 seed this morning. The Hillcats will travel to Pittsburg, Kansas, for the NCAA Central Regional on May 14-16.
Rogers State (36-19) will take on No. 2 seed Pittsburg State (45-9) in the first game of the tournament on Thursday. RSU is 2-1 against PSU this season, as they upset the Gorillas 5-0 in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals last weekend.
Also in the Pittsburg Regional is No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma and No. 6 seed Winona State of the NSIC.
The Hillcats have qualified for the regional tournament six times (
2018, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) as full-time NCAA members. They were crowned regional champions in 2022 and 2024. In 2022, the Hillcats won the NCAA Division II National Championship following a thrilling run in the regional tournament, which was hosted in Claremore.
The winners of both double-elimination Central Regionals will advance to the NCAA Central Region Super Regional Championship, scheduled for May 22-23. The NCAA National Championships are set for May 29-30 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
