Six Hillcats Named to D2 CCA All-Central Region Team

HAYS, Kan. – The Rogers State Men's Soccer program, fresh off of a 2019 GAC/MIAA Championship, have had six Hillcats named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Men's Soccer All-Central Region Team, announced the association on Wednesday.
 
Jake Simpson, Noah Robson, Michael Turner, Jaime Ponce and Dillon Dean were named to the D2CCA All-Central Region First Team, while Jordan Watson received D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team honors.
 
Rogers State led in first team selections for the region with five and was second in total all-region selections with six.
 
Simpson led the team in goals (14) and assists (8) this season and was named to the team as a forward. The Cambridge, England native set the school record for goals and points (36) in a season and finished one assist shy of Robson's school record from last season.
 
Simpson, who was named the conference Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, was first in the GAC/MIAA, as well as first in the region in assists and points. He was second in the GAC/MIAA and second in the region in goals. He ranked in the top 20 in all three categories in the NCAA during the regular season.
 
Robson was named to the team as a midfielder. Robson finished the season tied for second in goals (6) for the Hillcats, including a goal in the championship game last Sunday, and was also second on team in assists (6). The senior led the team in game-winning goals with three and was second on the team in total points.
 
Ponce was one of two Hillcat defenders named to the team. The GAC/MIAA Newcomer of the Year led the Hillcats in minutes this season (1785), starting all 20 games on the back line in his first year for the navy and red. He was a key part of the defense for Rogers State that recorded nine shutouts this season, including seven in conference play and one in the conference tournament. The Enid, Oklahoma native was named the Defensive Player of the Week once this season. Ponce also had one assist.
 
Turner joined Ponce on the first team as a defender. Turner helped the Hillcat defense to nine shutouts this season, playing 1767 minutes, second most for Rogers State. Turner was twice named the conference Defensive Player of the Week this season.
 
Dillon Dean was named the All-Region First Team Goalkeeper. Dean set the school record for goals against average (.42). His .867 save percentage was second all-time. The Mustang, Oklahoma native had five shutouts and two shared shutouts this season and had a streak of 455 minutes and 49 seconds without allowing a goal. Dean has won three straight conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors to close the season.
 
Jordan Watson also earned all-region honors for the Hillcats. Watson was named to the second team as a forward. Watson was tied for second on the team with six goals and six assists.
 
Rogers State closed out their season on Sunday with a victory at Fort Hays State in the GAC/MIAA Conference Championship final.
 
The five Hillcats who earned All-Central Region First Team selections will now advance to the national selection for D2CCA All Americans.
