PITTSBURG, Kan. –
Alfred Thomas led the Hillcats in a strong weekend for the Track & Field program at the 4
th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic.
Thomas set a school record in the 200-meter dash and ran the 12
th fastest time in the nation this year with a NCAA provisional time of 21.52. Thomas finished fourth overall in the race.
Djiron Lilley (22.27),
Jacques Morgan (22.77) and
JaQuan Johnson (23.40) also competed in the 200.
In the 60-meter dash, Lilley ran a 6.86 in preliminaries and finished eighth in the final with a 6.89. Thomas ran a 6.90 in preliminaries.
Thomas and Lilley teamed up with Morgan and
Tyvonne Allen in the 4x400-meter relay to run a 3:18.67.
Baffour Kyem set a school record in the Triple Jump, clearing a distance of 13.97 meters to break his previous record by .18 meters.
The Distance Medley Relay team of
Nick Williams,
Bolton Fortune,
Byrun Ratliff and
Preston Turner ran the second fastest time in school history with a 10:52.05.
Ratliff ran the third fastest time in program history in the mile, running a 4:29.88. Cruzito Chavez ran a 4:42.34 in the event.
Fortune set an indoor record in the 800-meter run with a 2:08.75.
Nick Williams and
Colton Green ran in the 3000-meter run. Williams finished with a time of 9:02.87. Green finished with a 9:05.09.
Rogers State will be back in action on Friday, traveling to the Arkansas Qualifier in the final tune-up before the Great American Conference Championships.
