Andrea Morales was named the Heartland Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Feb. 11 – Feb. 17.
Morales made four appearances overall with three starts last week, compiling a 4-0 record. The sophomore tossed 24.0 innings, allowing six total hits and just three earned runs, finishing the week with a 0.88 earned run average.
The El Paso, Texas native threw a no-hitter against Central Missouri and threw a one-hitter against Fort Hays State.
Morales had 40 strikeouts to just three walks and allowed only two extra-base hits as opponents hit just .076 against her. She leads the conference in wins (7), strikeouts (73) and opponents' batting average (.148) this season.
This is Morales' first Pitcher of the Week award this season. She is part of a sweep of the awards for softball this week, as
Danelle Day was named Hitter of the Week.
Morales and the rest of the Hillcats will host Central Missouri on Thursday before opening Heartland Conference play this weekend against St. Edward's.
