Turner Hits Game-Winning Shot Late To Propel Hillcats To Senior Day Win

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Senior guard Tate Turner had scored 647 points in his Rogers State career heading into the final offensive possession of his home career. Turner then hit arguably his biggest basket as a Hillcat with 4.7 seconds left, a jumper from 15 feet over a scrambling Texas A&M International defender, to make sure that he and his fellow seniors would leave victorious on senior day with a 52-51 victory over the DustDevils.

Following a last second scramble for a fumbled pass by the DustDevils (6-19, 3-11), the Hillcats (18-10, 7-7) could breathe a sigh of relief as the buzzer sounded on a hard-fought win.

Turner's eight points were second-highest for Rogers State starters, with senior guard Saint Hilaire ending his time at the Claremore Expo Center with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.  The second-highest total for an individual, part of the team total of 35, was senior forward Latrell Tidwell's seven rebounds.

Perhaps the story of the game was the bench play of the Hillcats who scored 19 of their points from the bench, compared to the DustDevils' seven. Leading all-scorers for RSU was junior guard Tavian Davis. The Muskogee native scored 12 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the field.

Senior guard Josh Joiner ended the day with three points and two rebounds. His fellow senior guard Chase Littlejohn poured in seven, including two of the teams three three-point shots. Joiner made the other.

Every senior contributed points in route to the Hillcats' second win in a row at home, as the Hillcats picked up win 18 of the season.

Rogers State Men's Basketball will travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on Newman Men's Basketball (18-8, 11-2) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
