SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Rogers State Women's Track & Field team ran at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on Saturday, finishing with several strong performances, including a school record, despite strong winds and cold temperatures.
Freshman
Katelyn Callender broke her own record in the 400-meter Hurdles, finishing in fifth place overall. Callender broke her previous record of 1:08.89, which she set in the outdoor opener on March 14, by nearly two seconds with a 1:06.94.
Cakkender also ran in the 100-meter Hurdles, earning a sixth-place finish with a time of 15.90.
Kaylee Jimboy ran 12
th in the event with a 17.12.
Olivia Couch earned a third-place finish in the Long Jump, clearing a distance of 4.93 meters despite the windy conditions.
Nick Williams earned the top finish for the Hillcats, taking third overall in the 5000-meter Run. Williams ran a time of 16:01.95 in the event.
Colton Green ran fourth in the event, finishing with a 16:14.12.
Byrun Ratliff also earned a top-five finish, leading the Hillcats in the mid-Distance events. Ratliff took fourth overall in the 800-meter Run, finishing with a 2:02.76.
In the 1500-meter Run, Ratliff took sixth overall, finishing with a 4:16.72.
Katelyn Alexander led the Hillcats in the mid-distance events on Saturday. Alexander earned a top-five finish in the 800-meter Run. The freshman ran over three seconds faster than her time in the season opener, finishing with a 2:30.81.
Alexander was also the top Hillcat in the 1500-meter Run, finishing in 11
th place. Alexander ran .55 seconds faster than her season-opening time in the event, finishing with a 5:14.48.
Ellen Thomas,
Noel Lawver and
Mia Chavez all grabbed top-10 finishes in the 5000-meter Run, finishing eighth, ninth and 10
th, respectively. Thomas ran a time of 20:26.07, while Lawver finished with a 20:30.53 and Chavez ran a 20:47.07.
The Hillcats will return to action on April 12-13, running in the Wichita State hosted KT Woodman Classic.
