CULVER CITY, Calif. – Rogers State Softball has climbed into the top 25 of the Fast Pitch News NCAA Division II Power Rankings for the first time in program history, appearing at No. 25.
The move up the rankings into the top 25 comes after a week which included a series sweep of Texas A&M International in Heartland Conference play, where the Hillcats did not allow a run.
The Hillcats also battled to a tight loss against now No. 4 ranked Texas A&M Commerce in a doubleheader in Texas.
The top-25 ranking is further recognition for the Hillcats this week as sophomore pitcher
Andrea Morales earned Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week Honors on Tuesday following her performances against Commerce and International.
Rogers State is 27-12 on the season with a 3-2 season series victory over No. 24 St. Mary's, as well as season series victories in the Heartland Conference over Texas A&M International, Newman and St. Edward's.
The Hillcats have been winning both ways in 2019, as Rogers State sits fourth in the NCAA in shutouts with 13, while sitting seventh in the NCAA in home runs, averaging 1.31 per game.
Morales is tied for the NCAA lead with nine shutouts on the season and is third in victories (19) and strikeouts (177).
Junior
Danelle Day is tied for the NCAA lead in home runs with 14 on the season. She also leads the Heartland with 36 RBIs.
The Hillcats will be off this week, returning to action on Monday, April 8 with a doubleheader against Northeastern Oklahoma at the Diamond Sports Complex.
