SAN ANGELO, Texas - Rogers State Baseball is one win away from the NCAA Super Regionals as they hold a 1-0 lead over Angelo State in the best-of-three series in the NCAA South Central II Regional. The Hillcats will take on the host and the No. 4 ranked Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Foster Field.
Should the series go to an if necessary game three, the winner-take-all game would be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening.
Rogers State has won both of its games at the NCAA South Central II Regional, defeating Lubbock Christian 9-5 in the opener on Thursday before taking down ASU 9-8 in game one of the championship series Friday.
Grant Farris is 3-for-6 with three walks in two games. He hit a two-run home run to help the Hillcats to a win against Angelo State. Farris has three RBIs and four runs this weekend.
Griffin Keller is 5-for-8 with three RBIs and a run in in this weekend's games.
Zack Mann hit is first collegiate home run in yesterday's win over Angelo State.
Brendan Griffith was 3-for-4 at the plate against the Rams with three RBIs.
Angelo State (43-10) defeated Lubbock Christian in the 3:30 game on Friday, but have now dropped three of their last four games coming into Saturday's South Central II Region finale.
Tournament Scenarios for Saturday:
- If Rogers State wins, game one Saturday, the Hillcats clinch the best-of-three series and move on to the NCAA Super Regional next week.
- If Angelo State wins the 3:30 game Saturday, the two teams will play one more game at 7:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NCAA Super Regional next week.
The Hillcats improved to 14-6 all-time in national tournament play with their two wins so far this weekend in San Angelo. Rogers State's last national tournament appearance came in 2013, when the Hillcats made a strong run all the way to the Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
