NORMAN, Okla. – The Rogers State Track & Field team raced for the first time in 2020 at the University of Central Oklahoma Weilert Open hosted at the Mosier Indoor Facility on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
24 Hillcats competed in six different events for the navy and red in the first full meet under new head coach
Matt Kennedy, who took over the program in December.
Performances of Note: Senior
Byrun Ratliff led the way for the Hillcats on Saturday with the best finish on the afternoon. Ratliff finished fourth in the men's mile, running a time of 4:34.97.
Ratliff led seven other Hillcats in the event, including three more who picked up top-10 finishes. Fellow senior
Nick Williams ran seventh overall, edging out teammate and freshman
Jackson Stinnett. Williams crossed the line with a 4:39.03, while Stinnett finished with a 4:39.16.
Hunter Hart rounded out the top 10 in the mile with a 4:42.78, .12 seconds ahead of
Preston Turner in a 11
th.
In the women's mile, freshman
Brianna DeAngelis had a strong finish, leading the Hillcats with a sixth place run. DeAngelis ran a 5:41.55 in the event.
Sophomore
Katelyn Alexander finished 10
th in the event, crossing the line with a 5:51.61.
Kaylee Jimboy and Ethan Adams led the Hillcats in the 600-yard runs. Jimboy took 12
th overall in the women's event. The junior ran a 1:47.16.
Adams finished 11
th in the men's event. The freshman ran a 1:21.46.
