Hllcats Fall On Road At Northwest Missouri

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Rogers State Women's Basketball team fell to Northwest Missouri State 63-48 to close a six-game road swing for the Hillcats.
 
The Hillcats were in a back and forth battle over the first three quarters. After the first quarter, Rogers State trailed 12-11, but would go on a 6-0 run to start the second quarter and take the lead. However, Northwest Missouri would respond and take the lead going into half time, 29-24.
 
Northwest Missouri would continue to build their lead in the third quarter, extending it to 15 points mid-way through the quarter. The Hillcats would fight back to cut the lead to nine with the score being 45-36 heading into the fourth.
 
Northwest Missouri finally broke away from the Hillcats in the fourth quarter for good going on a 6-0 run in the beginning of the quarter to put the Hillcats in a double-digit deficit for the rest of the game.
 
Senior Alicia Brown and Sophomore Julie Luna led the team in points each scoring 12 for the game. Brown would also finish with four rebounds and a steal. Luna would also have three steals for the Hillcats.
 
The Hillcats would have three people tie for the lead in rebounds for the game. Senior Darian Jackson, sophomore Vanessa Gajdosova, and freshman Bailey Kliewer would all finish with five rebounds for the game. Jackson would also have five points and two steals in the game.
 
The Hillcats shot 29 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range. The hosts would shoot 39 percent from the field and were also 94 percent from the free-throw line, compared to 6 percent from the Hillcats.
 
The Hillcats will return home in their next game as they take on Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday, January 9 at the Claremore Expo Center. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
