Softball Makes Debut in NFCA Top 25 Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Rogers State Softball team made its debut in the National Fastpitch Coaches Associations NCAA Division II Softball National Top 25 Poll at No. 22, announced the organization Wednesday.

Rogers State entered the ranking after posting a 12-2 record over the first three weeks of the season, including a pair of top 25 victories, defeating then No. 23 Arkansas Tech, 6-3, and then No. 10 Texas A&M- Commerce 2-0 in Commerce.

This week's ranking is the first for Rogers State Softball in the NCAA era after becoming eligible following the transition to the NCAA from the NAIA seven seasons ago. The Hillcats made the move to the NCAA ahead of the 2014 season.

Last season, the Hillcats climbed into the receiving votes category, as high as the first team out of the poll at 26, but failed to crack the top 25.

At the time of release, the Hillcats had won eight-straight games, including a sweep of the Edmond Regional Festival last week. Rogers State then defeated Texas Woman's in a doubleheader Wednesday evening to improve the streak to 10-straight wins.

Rogers State is back in action this weekend as they play their fourth and final invitational/ festival of the season. The Hillcats will play in the Edmond Regional Festival III from February 21-22, playing in five games hosted by Oklahoma Christian and Central Oklahoma.
