BETHANY, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer had nine student-athletes earn GAC/MIAA All-Conference honors, the league announced on Thursday.
A trio of seniors, including Jaxon Pitt, Callum Hubble and Michael Turner, were named First Team All-Conference. A native of Edmond, Okla., Pitt finished the season with six goals and four assist on the season, and ranked fourth in assists in the conference and fifth in goals. A product of Chelmsford, England, Hubble finished with two goals, both game winners, and an assist in 18 games with 1,385 minutes played as a midfielder. A two-time Defender of the Week, Turner anchored a Hillcat defense that led the league with a 0.85 goals against average and forced eight shutouts in 18 games with 1,614 minutes played.
Four Hillcats were named Second Team All-Conference, including Ruben Carrasco, Jordan Watson, Luke Morgan and Jaime Ponce. Carrasco finished the year with six goals and two assists in 18 games. Watson finished with four goals and assists in 12 games. Morgan finished with a goal and two assists as a midfielder. Ponce finished with two goals and helped the league-leading defense with 1,389 minutes played in 16 games.
Freshman Declan Viljoen earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors for his excellent play in goal during the season. The Auckland, New Zealand native posted a 10-4 record with seven shutouts, and led the league with a 0.77 goals against average and was second with a .780 save percentage.
Jarrod Cooper was recognized as one of four Distinguished Scholar Athletes for his work in the classroom. The Owasso, Okla. native is majoring in medical/molecular biology.
The No. 3-seed Hillcats will take on No. 2-seed Fort Hays State on Friday, Nov. 12 in the GAC/MIAA Tournament Semifinals in Bethany, Okla. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
