CARROLLTON, Texas. - The Rogers State women's golf team maintained it's fourth-place standing on day two of the University of Central Missouri Southern Invitational hosted at Indian Creek Golf Club.
The Hillcats improved on round one's score by four strokes, finishing with a 322 in the second round to maintain their hold on fourth overall with a two-day score of 648 to sit a +72.
Rogers State is eight shots behind Harding for third. Host Central Missouri leads with a two-day total of 629, while Central Oklahoma is second with 630.
Players of Note: After tying for the team lead on day one with an 81,
Sydney Murray again was at the front for the Hillcats, posting a 79 in the second round to climb two spots into a tie for tenth overall. The senior had two birdies and nine pars in her round.
Grace Williams matched Murray with a pair of birdies and had nine pars as she matched Murray for the best round of the day with a 79, improving four strokes from day one. Williams climbed seven spots in the standings into a tie for 17
th overall heading into Tuesday's final round.
Sitting in a tie with Williams after day two is Jess Green. The junior, who had an 81 on day one, matched her opening round performance with another 81 on Monday. Green had just one birdie on the afternoon, but finished with 10 pars.
Mariana Flores wrapped up the scoring rounds for the Hillcats on day two with an 83 after posting an 81 on day one. Flores led the team with 12 pars, including six straight on the back nine.
Closing out the day for the Hillcats was
Marelda Ayal. The freshman finished with an 86 on day two. She had one birdie and seven pars on the afternoon.
Up Next: The Hillcats will be back on the course on Tuesday for the third and final round of the Southern Invitational. The round begins at 8 a.m. with Hillcats set to start teeing off from 10:39 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
