MUSKOGEE, Okla. –
Luke Palmowski claimed medalist honors at the 22
nd Annual NSU Golf Classic on Tuesday, winning in the second playoff hole for his first career victory.
After an even first playoff hole, Palmowski shot a par on the second playoff hole to break a tie with Southern Arkansas's Kade Johnson to win the individual event.
Palmowski closed round two early Tuesday finishing the final three holes at -1 to enter the last round one shot off Johnson in the lead at -5. Palmowski shot a -1 round of 70 to catch Johnson and finish tied at -6 for the event.
The Hillcats finished third overall out of 20 teams in the event, completing three rounds at even par.
Ty Nicar finished second for the Hillcats in the event. Nicar finished round two at -3 and shot a 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 17
th at +1 over three rounds.
Aidan Gavey had the best round of the day for the Hillcats, shooting a 69 in the final round to climb into a tie for 24
th overall at +3 for the event.
Gonzalo Chaves matched Gavey in the final standings, also finishing at +3 in 24
th. Chaves closed round two at even par and shot a +1 round of 72 in the final round.
The victory for Palmowski comes in the final tune-up for the Hillcats prior to the MIAA Championship, which is set to take place on April 19-20 at Shangri La Resort in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
