BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Rogers State's
Mariana Flores and
Jessica Green recorded top-five finishes at the 2021 MIAA Women's Golf Championships on Friday. The Hillcats recorded a third-place overall finish in RSU's first appearance at the MIAA Championships.
Flores took second overall in the event after scoring a +11 overall for the event. The senior finished with a final round score of 82 to finish four shots off of the winner, Susana Olivares (+7) of Central Oklahoma.
Green carded the best round of the day as she shot a +1 round of 73 to climb 10 spots up the leaderboard on the final day. Green finished at +16 for the event and tied for fifth overall.
Marelda Ayal also carded a top-10 finish for the Hillcats in the event, as she finished at+22 over three rounds. Ayal closed the event with an 83 in the final round to finish in a tie for 10
th.
Sydney Murray wrapped up the scoring for the Hillcats in the final round, as she climbed six spots with a 79, the eighth best round of the day in the 54-golfer field. Murray finished the event at +27 and in a tie for 18
th overall.
Rogers State finished third overall as a team with a here-day total of 940. The Hillcats finished seven shots off of winner Central Oklahoma and six shots behind Central Missouri for second.
Rogers State will now await the NCAA Tournament selection committee to see if the Hillcats earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Regional Championships.
