WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Rogers State men's golf team climbed the leaderboard on the final day of The Mule hosted by Central Missouri at the Miles National Golf Club. The Hillcats climbed into the top three with the second-best round of the day after firing a team round of 286.
The Hillcats were the only team to place four golfers inside the top 25 of the event.
Ty Nicar led the way for the Hillcats in the final round, shooting a -1 round of 69 to finish with one of three under-par rounds for the Hillcats in the event. Nicar climbed 22 spots up the leaderboard to finish 24th.
Luke Palmowski led the way for the Hillcats in the three-round event, finishing at +1, just one shot off of a four-way tie for the victory. Palmowski took fifth overall after rounds of 69-71-71.
Aidan Gavey, who led the Hillcats after 27 holes went on to finish second for the navy and red in the event. Gavey wrapped round two with the best round of the tournament for RSU with a -2 score of 68. Gavey closed with a 73 to finish at +5 for the event to finish in a tie for 17th.
Elliot-Han Monteremal matched Gavey over three rounds, also finishing with a +5 total score of 215. The freshman shot back-to-back rounds of 71 before closing with a 73.
Gonzalo Chaves closed out the tournament matching Gavey and Monteremal with a final round 73 as he climbed 41 place to finish in a tie for 59th.
The Hillcats will return to the course on April 12-13 with the NSU Spring Classic. The event will be held at the Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
