PITTSBURG. Kan. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field competed at the Wendy's/Pitt State Invitational on Saturday.
In the women's 600 yard, Jocelyn Turney finished eighth with a time of 1:29.59.
In the women's 800 meter, Katie Byrd finished third with a new school record of 2:17.14, surpassing the previous best time of 2:19.64 set by Ashtyn DeRoin in 2015. Madison Lemons finished 19th with a time of 2:29.08.
In the women's mile, Brianna DeAngelis finished ninth with a new personal best time of 5:14.17. Riley Coleman finished 18th with a time of 5:29.61. Sydney Krehbiel finished 21st with a new personal best time of 5:34.13.
In the women's 3,000 meter, Tori Wood finished 19th with a new personal best time of 10:53.56. Madison Bradshaw finished 23rd with a time of 11:03.57. Elizabeth Ostermaier finished 33rd with a new personal best time of 11:42.22.
In the women's 5,000 meter, Gloria Butts finished sixth with a new personal best time of 18:29.98.
In the women's distance medley relay, the team of Katie Byrd, Riley Coleman, Jocelyn Turney and Brianna DeAngelis finished second and crushed the school record with a time of 12:30.29, surpassing the previous best time of 13:03.21 set in 2015. With this new best time, five new indoor school records have been set so far this season (600 yard, 800 meter, 3,000 meter, 5,000 meter and distance medley relay).
On the men's side, in the 600 yard, Carlos Vallejo finished 13th with a time of 1:16.66. Garry Rose finished 15th with a new personal best time of 1:17.07.
In the men's 800 meter, Jackson Stinnett finished 15th with a time of 1:57.43. Jon Biersdorfer finished right behind in 16th with a time of 1:57.46. Collin McHugh finished 33rd with a time of 2:01.39.
In the men's mile, Preston Turner finished 42nd with a time of 4:38.70.
In the men's 3,000 meter, Julius Oheim finished 12th with a time of 8:42.22. Kyle Ginn finished with a new personal best of 8:49.35. Caden Goss finished 18th with a new personal best time of 8:49.37. Kory Wilson finished 21st with a time of 8:54.04. Morne Scharnick finished 26th with a time of 9:03.39.
In the men's 5,000 meter, Hunter Hart finished 13th with a personal best time of 15:30.15. Tyler Melton finished 21st with a time of 15:52.55.
In the men's distance medley relay, the team of Carlos Vallejo, Garry Rose, Jon Biersdorfer and Jackson Stinnett finished seventh and set a new school record with a time of 10:31.31, surpassing the previous best time of 10:36.81 set in 2020.
The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 4 as they travel to Joplin, Mo. to compete in the Lion Open and Multi, hosted by Missouri Southern.
