MOORHEAD, Minn. – Rogers State women's basketball opens the 2022-23 campaign on the road in the Regional Challenge hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Hillcats return six players from last season, including starters
Bailey Kliewer and
Jordan Lewis as well as Briana Baker Bruce, who was a key contributor off the bench in 2021-22. Of the nine newcomers, Head Coach
Kyle Bent brought in a Division I transfer in
Fredrionna Adams (Morehead State) as well as a talented mix of Division II transfers, junior college transfers and freshman.
RSU finished last season with an 11th place finish in the MIAA. This season they were also picked to finish 11th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
In the season opener on Friday, Nov. 11, the Hillcats will face off against Regional Challenge host MSU Moorhead. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. with the game being broadcast on the NSIC Network. This is the third all-time meeting between RSU and the Dragons with the two sides splitting the two previous matchups, including the Hillcats taking an 85-63 victory last season.
In the final game of the opening weekend on Saturday, Nov. 12, the Hillcats will take on Northern State. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. with the game being broadcast on the NSIC Network. This is the third all-time meeting between RSU and the Wolves with NSU coming out on top in both previous matchups, including an 82-74 win over the Hillcats last year.
