Byrd Named USTFCCCA All-Region

NEW ORLEANS – Rogers State women's cross country's Katie Byrd has been named a US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region selection, the organization announced on Monday.

A native of Moore, Okla. this is Byrd's first such accolade of her career. The sophomore earned the honor after an outstanding performance at the NCAA Central Region Championship on Saturday. In the 6k race, Byrd led the Hillcats to an eighth place finish, the best in program history, by setting a new school record with a time of 21:22.5 and finishing in 23rd place. Her time bested her own record set at the MIAA Championships this season.

Byrd was also named to the All-MIAA team earlier this season with her performance at the MIAA Cross Country Championships. In the 6k, she posted a time of 21:35.75 pacing RSU in a ninth place individual finish. At the time, her mark surpassed the previous record of 22:01.2 set by Jillian Skalicky in 2021 at the Central Region Championships.
