Morales Named NFCA First Team All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rogers State softball's Andrea Morales has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American, the organization announced on Wednesday. Morales is the first player in program history to earned First Team All-American honors.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Morales holds every major pitching record in RSU softball history. The 2022 MIAA Player of the Year carries a 34-3 record with a 1.10 ERA as well as 326 strikeouts with only 39 walks in 248.2 innings pitched. Morales is currently one of only two active Division II pitchers, joined by fellow first teamer MacKenzie Ward of Minnesota State, with over 100 career wins and 1,000 career strikeouts.

Morales guided the Hillcats to their first Central Regional Championship last Friday as she held Central Oklahoma to only two runs in the two-game Super Regional Series with wins of 3-1 and 12-1 in five innings. As result of those performances, she helped RSU to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship in Denver, Colo.

The No. 5 seed Hillcats will open up the Championship on Thursday, May 26 as they face off against No. 4 Southern Indiana at The Assembly Athletic Complex. First pitch is set 2:30 p.m. CT.
