EMPORIA, Kan. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field wrapped up competition at the MIAA Outdoor Championships on Sunday.
In the women's 1,500 meter, Katie Byrd finished sixth with a new school record time of 4:39.87, surpassing the previous best time of 4:42.46 set by Madison Bradshaw earlier this season. Tori Wood finished seventh with a new personal best time of 4:40.10. With their top 10 finishes, Byrd earned RSU three team points, while Wood earned two team points.
In the women's 5,000 meter, Gloria Butts finished eighth with a time of 18:20.08, and earned one team point. Katie Byrd finished 10th with a time of 18:24.56. Madison Bradshaw finished 13th with a time of 18:39.08. Brianna DeAngelis finished 18th with a time of 18:57.01. Riley Coleman finished 19th with a time of 18:57.21. Elena Fries finished 21st with a time of 18:57.66. Ashley Riggenbach finished 26th with a time of 19:45.57. Tori Wood finished 27th with a time of 19:46.88.
On the men's side in the 1,500 meter, Jackson Stinnett finished 11th with a new personal best time of 3:57.11. Carlos Vallejo finished 16th with a new personal best time of 4:02.26. Jon Biersdorfer finished 20th with a new personal best time of 4:03.30.
In the men's 5,000 meter, Julius Oheim finished 16th with a time of 15:23.57. Hunter Hart finished 24th with a time of 15:51.54. Garrison Blanton finished with a time of 15:54.63. Kory Wilson finished 27th with a time of 16:01.79. Tyler Melton finished 28th with a time of 16:49.60.
The Hillcats will be back in action as they travel to Azusa, Calif. on Friday, May 13 to compete in the APU Last Chance meet.
