LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Despite losing their first game of the season, Roger State softball is still the unanimous No. 1 team in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
Receiving all 16 first place votes, the Hillcats rank ahead of two other MIAA schools including No. 10 Central Oklahoma and No. 20 Washburn. Central region foe No. 7 Southern Arkansas, who RSU defeated 3-2 last week, also appeared in the poll.
 
The Hillcats moved to 10-1 on the season last week, going 4-1 at the Raising Cane's Softball Festival in Bethany and Edmond, Okla. RSU started the weekend with wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State, No. 7 Southern Arkansas, Southwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas Tech. They took their first loss of the season 6-4 to host Southern Nazarene in the tournament finale.
 
The Hillcats will be back in action this afternoon as they take on Northwestern Oklahoma State in a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
