CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (1-0-1) took care of business in a 3-0 win over Drury (0-1-1) to close out the season opening homestand on Sunday.

Three Hillcats found their way onto the score sheet in the win.
Ruben Carrasco,
Sebastian Hernandez and
Marcos Vasallo all netted their first goals of the season, with
Alex Fletcher,
Artur Carvalho and
George Robinson adding assists.
Declan Viljoen (1-0-1) earned the win and combined with
Blake Classen for the shutout in goal, with Viljoen making four saves in 81 minutes and Classen playing the final nine minutes.

The first half was an even back-and-forth between both sides with possession being split almost 50-50 on both sides of the field. The Hillcats managed to get the upper hand though as they outshot the Panthers 8-6 in the period. Drury tried to attack early as they forced Viljoen to make a save on a shot to the bottom right corner of the goal in the seventh minute. RSU quickly flipped the momentum as
Ruben Carrasco found the back of the net off a pass from
Alex Fletcher in the 25th minute to end the stalemate and give the home team a 1-0 lead that would hold headed into the break.

The second half was all Hillcats as both the offense and defense began to find their footing with RSU outshooting the Panthers 4-1 in the period. It didn't take long for the Hillcats to score again as
Sebastian Hernandez got behind the defense and a fired a shot in off a pass from
Artur Carvalho in the 50th minute to increase the lead to 2-0.
Marcos Vasallo got in on the fun as he scored on a pass from
George Robinson in the 63rd minute to seal the win at 3-0.

RSU will begin a four-game road trip on Thursday, Sept. 7 as they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas to face off against rival Midwestern State. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
