KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State men's soccer entered the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll ranked No. 18 after the first week of the season, the organization announced on Tuesday.
RSU is the highest ranked GAC/MIAA team in the poll ahead of No. 22 Northeastern State as well as Fort Hays State and Southern Nazarene, who received votes.
The Hillcats went 1-0-1 to open the 2023 campaign at home with a 0-0 draw against Missouri S&T and a win over Drury. In the 3-0 victory over the Panthers on Sunday, three different players got on the score sheet with
Ruben Carrasco,
Sebastian Hernandez and
Marcos Vasallo netting their first goals of the season.
Alex Fletcher,
Artur Carvalho and
George Robinson all added assists in the game.
Declan Viljoen began his junior season without allowing a goal with nine saves in the first two matches.
The Hillcats will hit the road for the first time this year on Thursday, Sept. 7 with the first stop on a four-game trip in Wichita Falls, Texas as they take on rival, No. 7 Midwestern State. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
