ST. JOSEPH, Mo. and SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Rogers State women's and men's cross country teams competed at the Griffon Invite and Golden Eagle Invite on Saturday.
 
At the Griffon Invite, the Hillcat women finished second in the women's 5k with 49 team points.
 
Katie Byrd led RSU in fourth place with a time of 18:15.02, which was good enough for the seventh best time in school history. Cadence Cordova finished in eighth with a time of 18:35.21. Rayna Kucharyski finished in 10th with a time of 18:40.91. Kaylee Nay finished in 13th with a time of 18:47.94. Jordan Wallace finished close behind in 14th with a time of 18:51.54. Ashley Riggenbach finished in 19th with a time of 18:58.33. Sisely Mitchell rounded out the scoring in 22nd with a time of 19:05.98.
 
On the men's side, the Hillcats finished in sixth with 176 team points.
 
Nathaneal Gibson led RSU in 26th with a time of 25:40.25, which is the 10th fastest time in school history. Blake Feron finished in 39th with a time of 26:01.30. Casey Little finished in 48th with a time of 26:16.13. Jonathan Mendez finished in 53rd with a time of 26:36.37. Kyle Ginn finished in 54th with a time of 26:39.80. Julius Oheim finished in 55th with a time of 26:41.53. Cade McCall rounded out the scoring in 63rd with a time of 27:02.48.
 
At the Golden Eagle Invite, the Hillcat women won the 6k race with 16 team points.
 
Tehya Lang led RSU as she won the race with a time of 24:04.71. Emily Cruz finished in third with a time of 24:31.32. Brooklyn Garafola finished fourth with a time of 24:36.80. Jillian Skalicky finished fifth with a time of 24:55.38, Kiera Blumhof finished seventh with a time of 25:29.05. Sarah Swofford finished eighth with a time of 25:35.52. Elena Fries rounded out the scoring in ninth with a time of 25:41.89.
 
On the men's side, the Hillcats also won the 8k race with 27 team points.
 
Tyler Colvin led RSU, winning the race with a time of 26:04.65. Aidan Jimenez finished in fifth with a time of 27:11.67. Solomon Higgins finished in seventh with a time of 27:33.61. Clint Stapleton finished close behind in eighth with a time of 27:36.99. Nathan Hernandez finished in 10th with a time of 27:52.17. Lee Davis finished in 12th with a time of 27:58.41. Brian Slone rounded out the scoring in 15th with a time of 28:09.61.
 
The Hillcats will now take time to train and prepare for the MIAA Championships on Oct. 26, which will be hosted by Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo.
