Sitorus Prepares For NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championship

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Rogers State women's golf's Lydia Sitorus will wrap up her collegiate career as she begins competition at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Tuesday.

Making her third appearance in four seasons in the National Championship, the Bitung, Indonesia native will tee off the first round of the tournament on Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. CT on hole No. 1 at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

"For a program to be successful, you have to have students who are foundational, transformational, and loyal," said head coach Whitney Hocutt. "Lydia has been all three for us, even more so, she has been a transformational player. Playing steady golf for all four years, Lydia has produced multiple scores that have helped propel our program and secure team victories. Individually, she has had numerous top 10 finishes, top 5 finishes and individual championships during her career.

Being chosen as MIAA Freshman of the Year in 2022 and last year as a WGCA All-American were great honors. This year, to be selected as the Rogers State University Female Hillcat Award winner at the OMAs was also very special for her. The Hillcat Award recognizes a student-athlete who has been successful on the field but also in the classroom and through volunteer work. That is who Lydia is, and has always been willing to step in and step up to help someone.

I am so proud of the player and person Lydia is, and to finish her career at the biggest stage is exactly what she deserves. I know she will represent RSU well. I know she wishes her entire team were here with her, but she knows she is here representing them and that they are cheering for her at home."

In her four years with the Hillcats, Sitorus has made her mark on the women's golf program, playing in 50 tournaments with 34 top 10 finishes, including 21 top five finishes and six tournament wins. One of the highlights of her career came last season as she won the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship with a total card of 214 (-2) at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, shooting individual rounds of 72 (E), 71 (-1) and 71 (-1).

Sitorus racked up the awards and accolades during her time on the Hill. She got off to a strong start as she was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year during her first campaign in 2022. She was a four-time All-MIAA selection and WGCA All-Central Region honoree. Her crowning achievement came in 2024 as she became just the third Hillcat in program history to earn WGCA All-American honors.
