EMPORIA, Kan. -Â Rogers State men's and women's track and field wrapped up their first day of competition at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
The highlight of the day came in the women's 10,000 meter as Katie Byrd finished in fourth with a new school record time of 35:59.57, which is 0.99 seconds faster than the previous record set by Brianna DeAngelis-Stinnett in 2024 and is also an NCAA Division II provisional time. Rayna Kucharyski finished in ninth with a time of 37:42.96.
In the men's 10,000 meter, Cade McCall finished in 15th with a new school record time of 30.48.46, breaking his own record from earlier in the season by an eye-popping 23.97 seconds.Â
In the men's 400 meter, Phillip Owens finished in 15th with a new outdoor best time of 49.63, improving his mark by 1.03 seconds.
In the women's 800 meter, Sisely Mitchell finished in 13th with a new personal best time of 2:17.45, which is 0.99 seconds faster than her previous best time. Ann-Marie Dorsey finished just behind in 14th with a new personal best time of 2:18.82, improving her best time by 0.99 seconds. Savanna Wainscott finished in 16th with a new outdoor best time of 2:20.50, besting her previous mark from earlier in the season by 0.96 seconds. Kenzie Gilliam finished in 20th with a new outdoor best time of 2:22.80, which is 3.96 seconds faster than her best from earlier this season.Â
In the men's 800 meter, Ian Conder finished in 21st with a time of 1:55.60. Solomon Higgins finished right behind in 22nd with a season best time of 1:55.82, improving his mark by 0.99 seconds from earlier in the season. DeShawn Crowe finished in 24th with a time of 1:56.35. Isaac Conder finished in 26th with a time of 1:58.15.Â
The Hillcats are back in action tomorrow with the final day of the meet as they compete in six events.
