Sitorus Punches Ticket To National Championship, Hillcats Finish Fifth At Central Region Championships

EDMOND, Okla. - Rogers State women's golf wrapped up the final day of competition at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships on Wednesday.

After three rounds at the par 70, 5,834 yard KickingBird Golf Course, the Hillcats finished in fifth place after turning in a card of 875 (+35).

"I am so proud of the team and the year we had," said head coach Whitney Hocutt. "We set high standards and expectations that were met week in and week out. Collectively, we wish we could go as a team next week and could have held on to some shots that got away from us in the second and third rounds. However, we are excited for Lydia to qualify as an individual and cannot wait to see her compete for a national championship."

Lydia Sitorus led RSU in a three-way tie for fourth after shooting 213 (+3) for the tournament and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship as one of the two highest finishers on a non-qualifying team. This is the senior's second-straight season making it to the final site and the third time in her career.

"Our freshman, Milena played well in her first regional championship and had a great first season as a Hillcat," continued Hocutt. "Lauren stepped up in big ways and produced counting scores for us as a team. Junior Brianna has grown so much in her game and had a fantastic season. All three of our seniors, Jess, Kristin, and Lydia, have helped grow our program, and I am extremely proud of the young ladies they are. Overall, it was a fun week in Edmond."

Milena Andres finished in a group of seven tied for 11th with a card of 216 (+6). Lauren Anderson finished in a three-way tie for 49th with a 224 (+14). Kristin Gudmundsdottir finished in a group of seven tied for 53rd with a 226 (+16). Jessica Osden rounded out the squad in a three-way tie for 60th with a 227 (+17).

Having earned the individual bid, Sitorus will compete in the NCAA Division II National Championship on May 13-17 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
