CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State track and field athletes achieved 10 personal bests during a busy Saturday of competition in Massachusetts and Kansas. The Hillcats participated in the second day of the David Hemery Valentine Invite and the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic.
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITE
Amy Morefield and
Sisely Mitchell wrapped up competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Mitchell started off in the women's mile, finishing in 182nd place with a time of 5:08.41. Morefield concluded the evening with a time of 10:51.48 in the 3000 meters, finishing 207th.
11TH ANNUAL RUSS JEWETT INDOOR GORILLA CLASSIC
The Hillcats put together a strong meet at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
In the men's events,
Phillip Owens competed in the 400 meters, finishing 32nd with a season-best time of 49.92 seconds. The 800 meters featured impressive performances, as
Ian Conder took 16th place with a personal best of 1:53.68.
Jaxson Wheeler also achieved a personal best, finishing 44th in 1:57.24, while
Sam Russell placed 53rd with a time of 1:57.90.
In the mile race,
Blake Feron finished 15th with a personal best of 4:17.54.
Clint Stapleton followed closely in 21st at 4:19.92, while
Nathan Hernandez set a personal best with a time of 4:24.78, placing 31st.
Cohen McIntosh came in 37th at 4:25.63, and
Karsen Hennigh finished 57th at 4:51.02.
In the 3000 meters,
Cade McCall took 20th place, recording a personal best of 8:46.36.
Jack Morgan and
Aidan Jimenez also excelled, finishing 26th in 8:51.46 and 32nd in 8:53.51, respectively, both achieving personal bests.
On the women's side,
Stella Jones finished 40th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.07.
Cadence Cordova stood out in the mile, earning sixth place with a season-best of 4:59.14.
In the 3000 meters,
Brooklyn Garafola secured ninth place with a time of 10:10.15, while
Kaylee Nay finished 13th, achieving a personal best of 10:16.30.
Brooke Martin placed 29th at 10:28.21, and
Kiera Blumhof marked her personal best at 10:40.31, finishing 34th.
Ryann Barber rounded out the results with a 49th-place finish in 11:26.82.
The Hillcats will return to action on Feb. 27 - March 1 for the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
