Hillcat Baseball Achieves NCBWA Top 25 Ranking for the Second Time in Program History, Debuting at 24th

RSU appears in the poll after an NCAA-era best 17-3 start to the season

WINGATE, N.C. – For just the second time in program history, RSU baseball has appeared in the NCBWA Division II Poll, checking in at No. 24 with 50 points in the week four rankings announced by the organization this week.

The Hillcats (17-3) secured their best start to a season since becoming an official NCAA Division II member with a dominant 12-2 run-rule victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State this past Tuesday in Alva. Senior infielder Sammy Harris excelled with two three-run homers, while junior Damon Anderson-Wolf earned his fourth win of the season on the mound.

Pittsburg State is ranked No. 1 in the nation after a 19-1 start. Also in the MIAA, Central Missouri is ranked seventh, while Emporia State is receiving votes.

In addition to being ranked in the NCBWA poll, the Hillcats are also 24th in the ABCA poll.

RSU will return to action this afternoon with a doubleheader against rival Northeastern State at 1 and 4 p.m. at the RCB Bank Sports Complex.
