KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) announced its weekly baseball awards on Monday, naming senior
Andres Contreras as the MIAA Hitter of the Week for Week Seven. This marks the first time in Contreras' career that he has received this honor.
Â
The Chula Vista, California, native played a pivotal role as the designated hitter for No. 24 Hillcats during a perfect 4-0 week, which included a three-game MIAA series sweep against Northeastern State and the non-conference rule-win against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
Â
Through 19 plate appearances, the senior slashed .632/.667/.1.053 with 12 hits, 11 RBI and eight runs scored, leading the league for the week in almost every category. He also had one walk and added four extra-base hits with two home runs and a pair of doubles.
Â
Contreras is the first Hillcat to receive this accolade since AJ Folds in 2024. Last season,
Christopher Spry and
Colton Anderson were named MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
Â
No. 24 Rogers State baseball (20-3, 8-1 MIAA) will play a midweek game against Central Oklahoma (12-11, 3-6 MIAA) tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in downtown Oklahoma City. The Hillcats bring a 12-game winning streak into the matchup.
