PRIMETIME ACTION AT A MINOR LEAGUE BALLPARK
This will mark the Hillcats' first game at the home of the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the back-to-back World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The last time RSU played in a minor league venue was April 29, 2014, against Oklahoma Baptist at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, home of the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.

ABOUT CHICKASAW BRICKTOWN BALLPARK
Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark opened in 1998 in Oklahoma City's Bricktown Entertainment District, replacing All Sports Stadium. The ballpark, constructed with approximately 480,000 bricks, features 9,000 seats and two video boards. The state-of-the-art venue has hosted the Big 12 Baseball Tournament and the Bedlam Series against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

BEST START OF THE NCAA DIVISION II ERA
Rogers State baseball's all-time winningest coach, Chris Klimas (293-238), has guided the Hillcats to a remarkable start, boasting a 20-3 record—the best since the NCAA Division II era began in 2014. Their 8-1 record in the MIAA marks the team's best start since joining the conference in 2019-20.

In their first 23 games, the Hillcats have notched three walk-off victories and three run-rule wins. They secured non-conference series victories against UMary, East Central, Missouri-St. Louis and Minnesota Duluth. RSU concluded non-conference play with a commanding 12-2 (8 innings) run-rule triumph over Northwestern Oklahoma State.

The team carried that momentum into MIAA play, winning consecutive series against Missouri Southern, Fort Hays State, and Northeastern State. In their latest series, the Hillcats achieved a dominant sweep over the RiverHawks, outscoring them 40-10, which included two seven-inning run-rule victories in games one and three.

WELL-DESERVED NATIONAL RECOGNITION
For just the second time in program history, RSU baseball appeared in the NCBWA Division II Poll last week, checking in at No. 24 with 50 points in the week four rankings. The Hillcats are also 24th in the ABCA poll with 20 points, up from 29th in their inaugural ranking on March 3.

LIGHTS OUT AT THE PLATE
The Hillcats rank third in the MIAA in batting average (.320), on-base percentage (.435), slugging percentage (.491), total hits (246) and stolen bases (44).

They have recorded 73 extra-base hits, including 43 doubles, two triples and 28 home runs, placing them third in the MIAA for home runs. In addition, they have scored 204 runs and collected 182 RBIs, both ranking fourth in the MIAA.

Andres Contreras leads the team with a .427 batting average, ranking third in the MIAA, along with a .524 on-base percentage (eighth in the MIAA), a .622 slugging percentage, 35 hits (tied for sixth in the MIAA) and 28 RBIs (tied for seventh in the MIAA).

Jake Mitchell leads the team with six home runs (tied for sixth in the MIAA). Nathan Gutierrez, Trevor Spainhoward, Sammy Harris and Andrew Ramirez each have four homers.

Kade Goeke leads the team with 28 runs scored (tied for seventh in the MIAA) and 22 walks (tied for second in the MIAA).

Gutierrez is the team leader in stolen bases with 13 (tied for third in the MIAA).

BRINGING THE HEAT ON THE MOUND
RSU ranks second in the MIAA for team ERA (3.86) and runs allowed (99). They lead the league with the fewest walks allowed (60).

For the starting pitchers, Dillon Dibrell (4-1) leads the way with a 3.56 ERA (fifth in MIAA). Spencer Hatch (3-1) tops the team with 37 strikeouts, which ranks third in the MIAA. Zach Horwith (3-0) has logged a team-high 35.2 innings (8th MIAA), while Damon Anderson-Wolf has a perfect 4-0 record.

Out of the bullpen, Ricardo Landeros, Mason Trotter and Michael Klein each have two saves, the fifth-most in the MIAA.

HISTORY AGAINST UCO
Tuesday's matchup will be the 13th all-time meeting between the Cats and the 'Chos since their inaugural meeting on April 26, 2012. UCO holds a 12-6 series advantage, including winning three of four last season after defeating RSU in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals. The Hillcats claimed a 7-5 victory last season at the RCB Bank Sports Complex, with current assistant coach Jackson Romero going 4-for-5 at the plate.

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma finished the 2025 campaign with a 36-17 (23-13 MIAA) record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after claiming the MIAA Tournament Championship. As a result, they were picked to finish third with 116 points in the 2026 MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Bronchos have had a rollercoaster start to the season, recording 12 wins and 11 losses (3-6 MIAA). They finished non-conference play at 9-5 but have struggled in the MIAA, dropping their first three series to Missouri Western, Washburn and Emporia State. This weekend, they will take on No. 1 Pittsburg State in a series in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Drake Lee is a player to watch for the Bronchos. The Lafayette, Louisiana, native has a slash of .411/.476/.589 with 30 hits, 16 RBIs, 15 runs and seven walks. The senior has tallied seven extra-base hits with four doubles and three home runs.

A pitcher to watch UCO is Braxton Jones (2-0). The sophomore heads into the week with an ERA of 3.00 and a WHIP of 1.24. The Supulpa native has collected at team-leading 32 strikeouts and has walked only seven batters in 21.0 innings of work.

UP NEXT
Hillcat baseball will remain on the road this weekend for a three-game series against the Newman Jets (4-20, 2-12 MIAA) in Wichita, Kansas. Action from McCarthy Field will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
