GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its Week Five rankings on Tuesday, and Rogers State earned its highest-ever ranking at No. 15, accumulating 157 points. This marks the first time RSU has broken into the top 20 since the poll's inception in 2015.
Rogers State (20-3, 8-1 MIAA) finished last week with a 4-0 record, including a 12-2 run-rule victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State in the non-conference finale, and a series sweep of rival Northeastern State. In that series, RSU outscored NSU 40-10, led by MIAA Hitter of the Week
Andres Contreras, who slashed a remarkable .632/.667/1.053 with 12 hits, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored. Contreras also contributed four extra-base hits, including two home runs and two doubles.
Catawba holds the top spot in this week's poll, while fellow MIAA opponents Pittsburg State and Central Missouri rank second and eighth, respectively. Additionally, Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State are receiving votes.
