CLAREMORE, Okla. – Brooklyn Garafola's record-breaking performance highlighted RSU track and field's showing in California on Friday. RSU competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa in the morning and concluded the day at the Leopard Invitational in La Verne.
The Hillcats will wrap up action in The Golden State with the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, beginning with the men's 1500m at 10:20 a.m. CT.
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
The day began in Azusa, California, with the men's 5000 meters (Open C).
Nathaneal Gibson secured third place with a personal best of 14:29.89, while
Blake Feron finished in 59th place with a time of 14:55.20.
In the women's 5000 meters (Open B), Garafola had an outstanding performance, finishing 17th with a school-record time of 17:08.44.
Kaylee Nay followed in 76th place with a time of 17:40.56, while
Cadence Cordova wrapped up the event in 86th place at 17:49.49.
The final race at Cougar Athletic Stadium was the women's 5000 meters (Open C), where
Brooke Martin took 31st place with a personal best of 18:03.53.
Sisely Mitchell finished shortly after in 44th place, clocking in at 18:13.33.
Each athlete will return to competition tomorrow for the 1500 meters.
LEOPARD INVITATIONAL
In the nightcap,
Clint Stapleton competed in the 5000 meters at Ortmayer Stadium, finishing 36th with a time of 15:14.19. The junior will compete again tomorrow morning in the 1500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
